An INRAE Experimental Unit based in Occitania

Localisation

Located at the INRAE Occitanie-Toulouse Research Centre, the Unité Expérimentale d'AgroEcologie et Phénotypage des Cultures (UE APC) is situated at the gateway to the Lauragais. It benefits from the low-lying oceanic climate of south-western France, characterised by mild winters, wet springs and hot summers with an average rainfall of 665mm recorded from 1984 to 2020.

To set up its trials, the EU has 80 hectares at its disposal, 30 of which are shared with the Auzeville agricultural college.

It has field crop farming equipment, an irrigation network, and experimentation equipment (GPS triggered seed drills, "small plot" harvesters, Phénomobile robot, drone...).

The experiments are conducted in collaboration with other INRAE research units, including the UMR AGIR (VASCO and ORPHEE teams) and the UMR LIPME.

Crops usually tested

The EU GCA is setting up trials with varieties of wheat, peas, beans, maize, sunflowers, soybeans and sorghum.

However, it remains open to grow other crops depending on the projects being considered.
